5285Bikes (Fifty-Two-Eighty-Five) is a Colorado Front Range bike shop that specialized in pre-owned road, gravel and mountain bikes, parts and accessories. We’re local with offices situated at 5285′ in Gunbarrel/Boulder, CO and shipping warehouse off the I-25 corridor north of Denver.
The Start – 5285 Garage
Retired engineer Rick Wilson began selling used bikes parts online in 2018 out of his Aurora, Colorado garage as a hobby. He sold on PinkBike and other popular online platforms under the store name 5285garage as his home was located near the Sand Creek Park area at an elevation of 5285 ft.
After the 2020-2021 Covid pandemic PinkBike was acquired by Outside media and their store selling terms had changed. Rick adjusted but with the supply chain fallout and other post Covid barriers he found it difficult to keep his hobby business going. Around this same time Rick’s grown son and his family moved to Texas for a new work opportunity.
A New Begining – 5285 Bikes
In 2024 Rick decided to relocate to Texas and closed the 5285garage listings online. In October 2024 current ownership purchased the 5285garage listing names from Rick and 5285Bikes was born. Around this same time a large Louisville Colorado based bike retailer went bankrupt and we purchased needed startup inventory, furnishings and warehouse equipment at auction.
We currently work out of two Colorado front range locations with our inventory warehouse located off the I-25 northern corridor north of Denver. Our ownership team lives down the street from our main office location in the Boulder Gunbarrel neighborhood. Ironically, there are several bike trails around our offices at 5285 ft. elevation and feel the 5285Bikes moniker fits us perfectly.
